On Thursday, December 4th, 2025, the SLW Centennial High School’s Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Navy Eagles “Black Talon” Company conducted its Annual Military Inspection (AMI) in the school’s gymnasium. The AMI is an inspection conducted annually by a Navy representative to ensure that each NJROTC unit is operating at and maintaining the Navy’s standards. The AMI consists of a Personnel Inspection, a Unit Area Inspection, and is followed by a formal military ceremony, called the “Pass-in-Review”.



This year’s official party included the Inspecting Officer Captain Peter Petrelis (US Navy Ret.), SLW Centennial High School Principal Mrs. Ayesha Boria, SLW Centennial High School Assistant Principal Dr. Sandra Oliveira, NJROTC Senior Naval Science Instructor Lieutenant Victor L. Aponte (US Navy, Ret.), and NJROTC Naval Science Instructor Master Sergeant Carlos Hernandez (USMC, Ret.)
During this year’s ceremony four future service members repeated the “Oath of Enlistment” in front of their family and friends. The Oath of Enlistment Officer was Captain Peter Petrelis, who was also the Inspecting Officer for the Ceremony. Those individuals that will be enlisting soon are cadet First Class Petty Officer Jacob Ramos (US Navy), cadet Second Class Petty Officer Nolan Hamel (USMC), cadet Third Class Petty Officer Cameron Pecci (USMC), and cadet Third Class Petty Officer Lamenthia Scott (US Navy).

The Pass-in-Review was executed with 96 cadets and led by the SLW Centennial Navy Eagles Black Talon Company’s Commanding Officer, Cadet Lieutenant Commander Brittany Burke. There were four (4) platoons formed for the ceremony. All four platoons where lead by their respective Platoon Commanders. First Platoon (1st PLT) was lead by it’s Platoon Commander, cadet Senior Chief Petty Officer Deanna Simpson. Second Platoon (2nd PLT) was lead by cadet Second Class Petty Officer Nolan Hamel. Third Platoon (3rd PLT) was lead by cadet Second Class Petty Officer Zoey Fletcher. Fourth Platoon (4th PLT) was lead by cadet First Class Petty Officer Eli Ross.

The SLW Centennial NJROTC would like to thank all of the cadets, parents, distinguished guests, teachers, administrators, and custodial staff of SLW Centennial High School for the success of this years AMI Ceremony.
