Once a month, each of the grade level teams at Southport Middle School selects a special service project that benefits the community as students learn about the importance of volunteerism. Most recently, the seventh grade Panthers’ service projects had students learning about the basics of gardening and they spent the day beautifying the school campus by pulling weeds and planting new shrubs. The eighth grade Gators collected items and provided backpacks for the homeless that included non-perishable foods and other necessities like blankets, clothing, and various utensils. They were donated to local shelters and churches in the area and distributed through Sarah’s Kitchen in Fort Pierce. The eighth grade Eagles painted canvases with kind messages of gratitude in preparation for Teacher Appreciation Week. Southport students are creating a better, more peaceful world…one student at a time. We are #HurricaneProud
