At St. Lucie West Centennial High School, a group of Outboard Marine students recently earned industry certifications in engines, electronics, and electronic systems. These certifications mark a significant achievement, officially recognizing the students as certified technicians ready to enter the workforce.
As part of the awards ceremony, the students proudly presented electrical systems they built themselves. Their projects included emergency lighting setups, functional radios, and call systems. These systems were a demonstration of their technical skills and their readiness to apply those skills in real-world scenarios.

The event was led by Mr. Kachanis, who praised the students for their hard work and commitment. He told them that these certifications mean you are now certified technicians, ready to get a job and make an impact. Ms. Aliesha Seitz, a representative from the district, encouraged the students to pursue careers in their certified fields. She reminded them that there are tons of opportunities out there. She highlighted the growing demand for skilled technicians in marine and electrical industries.

Principal Ms. Popwell and Assistant Principal Ms. Oliveira, who oversees Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, also congratulated the students. They emphasized how programs like this prepare students for immediate employment and open doors to further education and advancement in technical careers.
This achievement reflects the strength of SLW Centennial’s CTE programs and the dedication of students and educators. With their certifications in hand and real-world experience under their belts, these students are well on their way to successful futures in the marine and electronics industries.
