The SLW Centennial High School NAVY JROTC competed in the G. Holmes Braddock High School Brain Brawl Academic Competition, in Miami, on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022.
The competition was fierce. 20 teams in total challenged each other in a “Jeopardy” style match where four teams battle each other answering questions for three rounds, followed by quarter-finals and semi-finals. Only the top four teams make it to the finals.
The SLW Centennial NAVY JROTC took home the Third Place Trophy and earned their invitation to the State Championships this weekend, on January 29th, 2022, at Gaither High School in Tampa.
The two teams that qualified to represent the SLW Centennial NAVY JROTC Academic Teams at the Area 7 (Florida State) Brain Brawl Academic Championship are:
Team Alpha: Cadet Lieutenant Commander Gregory Vetrano, Cadet Petty Officer Second Class Zachary Schumacher, Cadet Petty Officer Third Class Anders Maurancy, Cadet Seaman Recruit Sabrina Fortney, and Cadet Ensign Casey Scott.
Team Bravo: Cadet Lieutenant Aidan Rossell, Cadet Senior Chief Petty Officer Nicholas Linarducci, Cadet Ensign Nikolas Ramirez, Cadet Seaman Apprentice Mayreeana Neston, and Cadet Petty Officer First Class Peyton Mangine.
