Middle School CTE Students Connects With IRSC Health Science and Nursing Programs

Middle School Artists at Palm Pointe Study Artist Kehinde Wiley

Middle school artists studied the art of Kehinde Wiley for Black History Month.  Kehinde Wiley is most famous for his presidential portrait of Barack Obama. His artwork is known for its unique portraiture style that uses vintage, floral backgrounds paired with an emphasis on the model’s unique style.  Wiley’s paintings are inspired by the old masterpieces by having his models pose like a particular painting of old.  Palm Pointe virtual and traditional artists researched old masterpieces and picked out their favorite to recreate the pose.  Then, keeping with Wiley’s style they found a vintage background and digitally edited their portraiture … Read More

Microsoft’s Student Advantage Program provides free downloads of the full version of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, Access, etc.) for all St. Lucie County students, in District operated schools, for use on their personal and mobile devices. Mets players visit Manatee Academy

Students in Tracey Mathey’s first grade class at Manatee Academy were the first students in the county to get a visit from Mets baseball players pitcher Hamilton Bennett  and baseman Joe Bonfe.  The students loved the story the players read to them tag-team style-especially “Baseball Head”.

Meteorologist Visits Palm Pointe

News Channel 12’s Meteorologist Michael Ehrenberg came to Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition to speak with the fifth grade students to discuss weather patterns. He explained how using tools to measure weather helps meteorologists explain our forecast and provide us with our weather for the day or week. He also showed students pictures of what the studio looks like and how he is able to point on the green screen. Students enjoyed asking him questions and built an understanding of why weather is important. Pictured is Meteorologist Michael Ehrenberg talking to fifth grade students at Palm Pointe.
