Port St. Lucie High School Students Tour GL Homes at Valencia Cay

Students in the Carpentry and Drafting Programs at Port St. Lucie High School were provided an overview of constructing a home from land prep to closing. The students were educated by Joe Stein and Richard Bukowski, both construction managers from GL Homes. Joel Dramis, Building Code Administrator for the City of Port St Lucie, provided expertise on the permitting process while Jim Brann of the Porch Factory talked about the traits he desires in employees, as well as scholarships provided by the Treasure Coast Business Association.

Wayne Gent about the referendum and how it supports teachers, school security, mental health, and essential programs.  The Superintendent also enjoyed speaking with community members at the April Hatian-American Advisory Council, a community-based organization that supports networking and community projects. CAST Teacher Andrew Gekoskie Selected as Clinician

Board Member Dr. Donna Mills Honored by Chamber

Dr. Donna Mills, SLPS School Board Member, was honored by the Chamber of Commerce as April’s Woman of the Month.  Dr. Mills was introduced by her daughter, United States District Court Judge Shaniek Maynard – a past recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Month Award.  This made for a unique pairing for the mother and daughter team to both hold the Chamber’s “Woman of the Month” distinction. LPA Attends State Thespian Festival

During Spring Break of 2019, the Lincoln Park Academy Theater attended the 2019 State Thespian Festival. The level of accomplishment of the students that represented this theater department was the most impressive that it has ever been. Students were awarded with three superior rated scholarship auditions, all of which yielded interviews for colleges with the applicants for scholarships and training programs.  An additional three were superior rated performance pieces, two excellent ratings, and a straight superior rated Top Honors award on the Large Group Musical Performance. O’Reilly’s Auto Parts Supports PSLHS JROTC Fundraiser

On Saturday, March 30, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted a fundraiser in the parking lot of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts to raise money for the Regional Champion Drill Team. Cadets pre-sold tickets for several weeks prior to the fundraiser to help increase participation in the event. The 23 cadets who participated raised enough money to offset the cost of attending the State Drill Meet coming up on April 13, 2019. The cadets are now able to afford transportation to the State Championship Drill Meet in Lakeland, Florida!

School Grown Vegetables at Weatherbee

Ms. Whitney Lerman and her kindergarten students are teaming up with Mrs. Andrea Pierson, Cafeteria Manager, to grow and serve ‘school grown’ vegetables on the cafeteria line at Weatherbee.  The veggies shown will be transformed into coleslaw and salad and served in our cafeteria for lunch!  

PSLHS JROTC Participates in American Legion Match

On Saturday March 30, 2019, the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Marksmanship Team competed at Sebastian River High School in the inaugural American Legion 12th District 3P Air Rifle Match.  Our cadets: Cadet Major Joleen Kalinowski, Cadet Captain Mathew Simmons, Cadet Corporal Emmalyne Lewiston, and Cadet Sergeant First Class Edward Cook competed against 12 other schools from three counties.  The match was to help prepare cadets for the Area 3 South Regional Air Rifle Meet on April 6th at Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach, FL. Northport K-8 Participates in Relay For Life 2019

Northport K-8 participated in the 2019 Relay For Life recently held at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center this month. Northport is happy to provide community service and to receive the lessons that the students learn about cancer, care, kindness, and empathy. Northport’s team won Best in Show for the Lip Sync contest and participated in the Luminaria Walk and the Road to Recovery. We are so thankful for our entire Relay For Life team for their participation!

Westwood’s Criminal Justice Students Tour Emergency Operations Center

Fort Pierce Westwood High School’s Criminal Justice students toured the St. Lucie County Emergency Operations Center. This tour was hosted by St. Lucie County officials and the St. Lucie County Human Resources Department. Students gained insightful information on potential careers and how to utilize their industry certification starting this summer! Students are excited and looking forward to the many opportunities right here in St. Lucie County. .

PSLHS JROTC 2019 Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday March 28, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion attended its 25th Annual Awards Ceremony. Guests from veteran associations collaborated with school staff and presented awards to deserving cadets. Cadets received awards for academic achievement, leadership qualities, and patriotism. Cadets were proud to receive recognition for their hard work. Starting the ceremony was the Color Guard commanded by Cadet Command Sergeant Major Victoria Diaz, accompanied by Cadet Major Joleen Kalinowski, Cadet 1st Lieutenant Lila Meade, and Cadet Sergeant Alex Nangle.
