Happy Birthday to our dear Dr. Seuss ? ! Northport celebrated across the campus and virtually. The children in the library read The Lorax and learned all about environmentalism. It has been a GREAT DAY ?@ school. Children celebrated by reading Dr. Seuss books and dressing for the day.

Northport Celebrates Disability History and Awareness Weeks!

Northport K-8 School has been providing instruction and a variety of opportunities to expand student knowledge, understanding and awareness of individuals with disabilities, disability history and the disability rights movement recently. Disability and History Awareness Instruction was signed into law in 2008 and Northport K-8 School gladly acknowledges the designation of the first two weeks in October as an opportunity to celebrate Inclusion and Awareness. Northport Celebrates “Dads Bring Your Children to School!”

Northport dads Rock! This year we had an unprecedented number of dads join for a light breakfast and a special time to fellowship with other children and their dads. It was a wonderful event that was a super success. Dads pledged to support their children and their children’s teachers. They also promised to stay informed about their children’s behavioral and academic progress and encourage their children every day. WE LOVE OUR DADS @NP.

Northport Celebrates Custodial Staff!

What an honor to celebrate some of Northport’s finest staff.  The custodial staff, under the management of Michael Washington, have accomplished superior work keeping the school clean, sanitized and ready to support the children, teachers and staff.  It is a pleasure to be able to work with such a friendly and accommodating group of professionals.  The Northport custodial group has definitely stepped up to the plate to work as a team.  Northport celebrated National Custodians Day on October 2, 2020.

What a testament to hard work and dedication! Being a bus driver is a commitment to the students, families and community that you will carry our most prized possessions, our children, from home to school safely. We thank you for your service. Northport Celebrates Black History with Home Town Hero!

With much pomp, circumstance and practice, Northport students gave local hero, Attorney Willie Gary a welcome fit for a “Giant Killer!” Cheerleaders, flags, Northport band and student ambassadors led Attorney Gary to the school gymnasium to be seated on the dias along with Saint Lucie County School Board chairwoman Dr. Donna Mills, principal Glenn Rustay, program coordinator Diane Reynolds Crumpton, program emcee DeLacy Brown, and student speakers. After a beautifully orchestrated Northport jazz band performance and cheer, student speakers gave examples of the accomplishments of famous Black Americans. Northport Celebrates Awesome Crossing Guards

      Northport children and parents are just so lucky to have two awesome crossing guards posted at the main entrance to the school. One afternoon Cheri Portinga and Mr. Santa gave out special SMILE notes with messages to all walkers and biker riders heading east. Mr. Santa always charms the students at the holidays.   ? Northport Celebrates Annual Unity Day!

What an amazing day at Northport! The school community came together with a unified message against bullying. Parent and PTO president, Kendra Hansard, joined students for the Pledge of Allegiance and PTO vice president, Kristy Ellison, led the students in the Kids at Hope Pledge with a nod to a culture of kindness and antibullying on campus. Students across the campus made posters and banners to promote bullying awareness and voiced a powerful message of care, concern and kindness. Northport celebrates adult volunteer of the year

Northport K-8 School faculty, staff, administration, students and the family community celebrate the selection of Christine Hunsicker as our representative for Northport K-8 School Adult Volunteer of the Year!  Mrs. Hunsicker has volunteered for the school for the last eight years serving as grade mother for several teachers, PTO parent volunteer and School advisory Board member. This year, Mrs. Hunsicker serves as PTO president. She organizes so many fundraiser and student centered activities such as the Holiday Shoppe, Valentine’s dance, Teacher Appreciation lunches, Yankee Candle, and World’s Finest Chocolate sales. Without Mrs. Hunsicker, many school activities would not be nearly as fruitful and … Read More

For the last eight years, Northport has recognized the month of October as Bullying Awareness Month. Students are educated using a multi-pronged approach with a common message. Northport celebrates 27 years

Northport K-8 School is celebrating 27 years of educational growth and community connections. The doors opened to accept students on April 8, 1986 with John Townsend as the supervising principal of the school. The school began as a junior high school accepting students in grades 7 and 8, then moved into the middle school concept bringing in sixth graders. In 2005, Northport became a K-8 school with Eric Seymour as principal overseeing those dramatic changes. Northport buddies share their writing secrets

Northport K-8 School’s youngest authors share their secrets to publishing a well planned, revised, edited and  well written, illustrated book as they meet in the Media Center with their classes. Kindergarten student Isaac Muniz, from Melody Nieves’ class, and Fabian Allen from Lorri Lamm’s second grade class, sit together to share their stories. Northport Brings Out Community at Annual Breakfast With Santa!

Northport Principal Glenn Rustay shook off his Santa suit one more time to bring joy and good wishes to the entire Northport community at the Annual Breakfast With Santa held recently in the school cafeteria. On a Saturday morning, Assistant Principal Lisa Cash and Assistant Principal Lorie Monroe suited up to play Mrs. Claus and an elf to bring joy to all as a pancake breakfast was served by Northport’s PTO. Northport Boys to Men Host Special Guests!

Northport Boys to Men program hosted members of the local chapter of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity recently. Harry Williams, Roderick Johnson, Mike Greene and Jack Boatwright attended the meeting to help bring a message of integrity and respect to the boys. The men mentor a group of local boys called the “Lamp Lighters.” Each brought a message about respecting parents and teachers as well as other students. Northport boys sport heels for a great cause

Northport K-8 eighth grade Clownfish boys are supporting the school’s Relay For Life team this year by stepping into some big shoes! The theme this year is “Old Hollywood Glamour” and the boys are raising money for the event bypaying $5 per day to wear high heels. The Clownfish team leader Dru DeHart came up with the great idea to help support Relay For Life, and the boys have been vying to wear the shoes. The fundraiser for eighth grade boys runs October 30-November 16, and for seventh grade boys from November 27-December 19. The idea supports one of the school’s goals of providing … Read More
