Passionate educator inspires St. Lucie teachers

Dr. Adolph Brown, Passionate Educator is pictured with Brandi Pagano, speech-language pathologist at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition.  Dr. Brown, “The World’s Greatest Edu-tainer,” kicked off the school year right for all of St. Lucie Public Schools educators with an informative, awe inspired and energized presentation! Dr. Brown lives in Brandi’s hometown of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and is a professor at Hampton University where Brandi received her Master’s Degree.

Passion for Art at Oak Hammock K-8

Oak Hammock K-8 would like to congratulate Derick Calero for having his artwork chosen and displayed in the office of The Florida House of State Representatives, State Representative, Dana Trabulsy, District 84, at The Capital in Tallahassee. State Representative, Trabulsy stated in her communications, “It brought stunning color to my home away from home and was admired by all.”   The Osprey family would like to congratulate Derick on this great accomplishment.  His artwork is an authentic expression of his amazing talent and his passion for art.

Partnerships Benefit Students

Barnes & Noble of Jensen Beach chose the McKinney Vento Homeless program to be the recipient of the annual Holiday Book Drive this year. In-store customers have purchased over 3,000 new books so far to donate to the program. Every student enrolled in the program received a holiday gift bag that included two brand new books, new socks, school supplies, a hygiene kit, and coloring books for the younger students. Geneva Financial donated over 500 coloring books and crayons, the Treasure Coast Food Bank donated the hygiene items for the kits, and Bombas socks donated over 2,000 pairs of new … Read More

Partnership with School Board Celebrated

Pete Tesch and Jill Marasa from Economic Development Council (EDC), Rich Kolleda from Workforce Readiness Taskforce (WRT), and Brian Bauer from CareerSource Research Coast thanked the School Board for supporting this summer’s Boot Camps and acknowledged the positive partnership that they have with SLPS. Ready to Work Boot Camps were established at the request of manufacturers and trades seeking employees. The WRT was started in 2015 as a result of the EDC’s 2015-2020 Strategic Plan to explore workforce readiness and education improvements that has grown to 30 plus regional stakeholders.

Parkway Turkey Feathers

Maria Gerardi was the winner of this year’s PTO Turkey Feathers contest!  Students bought turkey feathers for their favorite teacher and the teacher with the most feathers was honored to wear our turkey costume.  Mrs. Gerardi had 124 feathers bought in her name.  She is seen here with Miss Jean offering her some stuffing.

Parkway Summer Slide Drive-Through Event

Parkway Elementary School hosted a drive-through event to provide families with resources to prevent the summer slide. Students and families picked up resources for reading, math, SEL, and STEAM to support their summer learning adventures!

Students at Parkway Elementary got to sample Sweet Potato Fries on Thursday during lunch. Students learned where sweet potatoes are grown, how fries are made from them, and the surprising health benefits they provide!  

Parkway Elementary Students Dive Into Reading with Read-at-Home Bags

Parkway Elementary is thrilled to launch our Read at Home Bags initiative as part of Florida’s Reading Campaign! This program is designed to strengthen the connection between school and home by providing students with engaging books and resources that support grade-level reading. Parkway Student takes Initiative

Parkway fourth grader, Dayna Contreras, designed and created necklaces to sell at the Harvest Dance to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.  Dayna, with her teacher and Relay for Life Team Captain, Laurie Farr, sold the beautiful designs to dance attendees.

Parkway Spelling Bee Champs

Parkway Elementary held its annual school Spelling Bee.  First place was won by Jezabel Montero; second place by Kemya Davis; and third by Dayna Contreras.

Parkway Pirates Rockin’ with Andy!

Andy the Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse visited the Kindergarten classes with a yummy treat! Students enjoyed warm bread with friends because they were the winners in our Texas Roadhouse fundraiser. Andy the Armadillo was rocking after lunch when he joined the Pre-K-2nd grade Back to School Dance!

Parkway First-Grade Garden

Ahoy Pirates! First-grade started a garden at Parkway Elementary! Our inspiring first-grade teachers kicked off the explorative science unit by conducting class outside. Students were engaged with hands-on investigations of plants, plant parts, living things, and even designing and constructing a garden. This year-long project will allow students to raise questions about the natural world, make observations, keep records of investigations, and generate appropriate explanations based on these explorations.
