PSLHS JROTC Travels to South Fork

The Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion attended their first away Raider challenge at South Fork High School, on Oct 16th.  Schools throughout St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee, and Palm Beach counties participated in the meet. The Raider competition consisted of 5 events: a 2.8-mile run, 1-mile Litter carry, obstacle course, tire flip, and constructing, and crossing a rope bridge. The Jaguar Battalion Males captured 1st place overall and our Females placed 2nd.

PSLHS JROTC Teach Southport Students PT

On Thursday March 7th, 2019, select cadets from the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Raider Team went to Southport Middle School. Seven Cadets: Cadet Corporal Mayoliv Hernandez, Cadet Captain Mathew Simmons, Cadet Sergeant First- Class Edward Cook, Cadet Corporal Alexis Wilson, Cadet Sergeant Justin Bennet, Cadet Major Joleen Kalinowski, and Cadet Corporal Emma Lewiston joined Southport’s gym class periods 5, 6, and 7. PSLHS JROTC Participates in State Championship Drill Competition

On Saturday April 13, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s drill team took 32 cadets to compete at the State Drill Meet at George W. Jenkins High School in Lakeland, Florida. The drill team competed in five regulation events: Female Armed and Unarmed Platoon, Male Unarmed and Armed Squad, and Male Unarmed Platoon. The Jaguar Battalion Drill team also competed in six exhibitions: Female Exhibition Squad and Platoon along with Male Exhibition Squad and Platoon. PSLHS JROTC Participates in American Legion Match

On Saturday March 30, 2019, the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Marksmanship Team competed at Sebastian River High School in the inaugural American Legion 12th District 3P Air Rifle Match.  Our cadets: Cadet Major Joleen Kalinowski, Cadet Captain Mathew Simmons, Cadet Corporal Emmalyne Lewiston, and Cadet Sergeant First Class Edward Cook competed against 12 other schools from three counties.  The match was to help prepare cadets for the Area 3 South Regional Air Rifle Meet on April 6th at Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach, FL. PSLHS JROTC Jaguars Help Prepare Meals with Big Heart Brigade

Over Thanksgiving break, Cadets from the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion partnered with the Big Heart Brigade and prepared thousands of pounds of food for Thanksgiving Day. Our Cadets worked 2-hour shifts where they prepared food 3 days prior to Thanksgiving, then packaged food during a 3-hour shift on Thanksgiving morning. The cadets had a great time helping the community with such a meaningful event.

PSLHS JROTC Football Color Guard 9-11

On Friday, September 11, Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Color Guard presented the colors at the first football game against John Carroll High School. With COVID-19  restrictions hindering a lot of our activities, the color guard was ecstatic to finally honor our country and show respect for the victims of the 9-11 attack. Commanding the Color Guard was National Flag Bearer Cadet Command Sergeant Major Mayoliv Hernandez accompanied by Cadet Sergeant Mery Fuentes as State Flag Bearer, Cadet Sergeant First Class Robert Pollino III as right Guard, and Cadet First Sergeant Devin Callwood as left Guard.

Every year, the Port Saint Lucie JROTC program has the privilege to work with Guardians for New Futures and Communities Connected for Kids, to help collect toys for kids during the holiday season. This year, Port Saint Lucie High School sponsored 27 kids to ensure they have a memorable and enjoyable holiday season.  

PSLHS JROTC Accreditation Inspection

The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion achieved a score of 98.25% on its JPA inspection, allowing them to maintain Honor Unit with Distinction Award, represented with a yellow star worn above the name plate on the right-hand side. The day began with a Continuous Improvement and Service Learning briefing. Directly after each briefing, the Platoon and Color Guard drill evaluation was conducted followed by Cadet and Instructor Portfolios. On Wednesday March 28, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion attended its 25th Annual Awards Ceremony. Guests from veteran associations collaborated with school staff and presented awards to deserving cadets. Cadets received awards for academic achievement, leadership qualities, and patriotism. Cadets were proud to receive recognition for their hard work. Starting the ceremony was the Color Guard commanded by Cadet Command Sergeant Major Victoria Diaz, accompanied by Cadet Major Joleen Kalinowski, Cadet 1st Lieutenant Lila Meade, and Cadet Sergeant Alex Nangle. PSLHS Jaguars Dominated Down South

 On Friday, February 12th, 2022, the Jaguar Battalion traveled to Seminole Ridge High School to compete against 10 schools for the 1st place title. Both male and female teams competed in Unarmed/Armed Squad, Unarmed/Armed Platoon, Color Guard, and Let 1 Squad. Port St. Lucie High School took 1st place in the Armed squad, Armed platoon, Color Guard, and 2nd place for the Unarmed platoon as well as 1st for Dual Exhibition for the females. PSLHS Jaguar Raider Team Dominates Area III

The Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Raider Team traveled to South Fork High School to compete in the Area III Regional Raider Meet State qualifier. They competed against 22 teams from nine other schools in five physically demanding events. The events consisted of Cross Country Rescue (team had to answer questions on first aid, treat a simulated 120lb casualty with supplies from 30lb ruck sacks, and then move the casualty and supplies one mile to the safe zone), 100 meter 300lb tire flip. The Jaguar Battalion recently held its annual Field Day, a competition designed to foster friendly competition and determine the top-performing company. On May 10th, 2025, cadets gathered, ready to engage in a series of athletic events. The day began promptly at 7:30 AM, with cadets reporting in their PT gear and getting ready for each event under the guidance of their company command teams. PSLHS Jaguar Battalion Supporting Veterans Campaign

On Sunday, October 22nd , the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted a Color Guard for the Professional Golfers Association at their golf course in St. Lucie West. Our cadets opened the ceremony with the national anthem sung by Dave Bray. The event was the 15th Annual Liberty Mutual Invitational Benefiting Caddy For a Cure. PSLHS Jaguar Battalion Shines!

On Saturday, September 10th, 2022, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted their first car wash of the school year at O’Reilly’s located off of US-1. Cadets were placed in different teams such as the wash team, dry team, and sign holding teams. It was a great success and a good way for our first-year cadets to see how we give back to our community.

The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion had the honor of presenting the colors to pay homage to veterans at Saint Andrew’s Lutheran Church located at 295 SW Prima Vista Blvd. in Port St. Lucie. This night is dedicated to a long line of military time honored traditions.
