Sam Gaines Academy Kinder Kites

At Samuel Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies, Kindergarten is celebrating the last days of this school year by popping a balloon a day. Inside each balloon is a STEM activity. Today, Kindergarten students made a kite out of a paper bag and went outside to fly them.

Sam Gaines Academy Honor Roll/Student Led Conference Event

On Wednesday November 4th, Samuel Gaines Academy hosted its first combination honor roll assembly/student led conference event. Students explained to parents and Treasure Hunters all of their accomplishments from the first nine weeks of school. Students also led conferences showing the items in their Colt Binders. Forest Grove Principal Terry Davis visited with several students to see and appreciate their hard work. Traci Wilke, proud principal of Samuel Gaines Academy, along with her dedicated staff did an awesome job of organizing all of the caring adults who were in attendance.

The 2019 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday was passed by the Florida Legislature and signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis. Sailor Sabol Selected as National Youth Delegate for Prestigious Conference at George Mason…

Sailor Sabol, a student at Saint Lucie West Centennial High School, has been selected to represent Port Saint Lucie, Florida as a National Youth Delegate to the 2018 Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University. Sabol joins a select group of 300 students from across the country to participate in an intensive, week-long study of leadership in environmental science and conservation. Sabol was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in leadership in the sciences and conservation studies. Sailing into Kindergarten at WBE

Weatherbee Elementary welcomed their incoming Kindergarten Mariners during a “Sailing into Kindergarten” themed event.  Parents and students met their teachers, new Principal, and other staff members.  After learning about the school’s expectations, schedules, curriculum, and much more, each student received a Take Home Learning Kit for Literacy and Math.  The students were so excited, and the parents were thankful for these free tools to help them support their children’s learning at home.  Finally, they visited their classrooms and made a sailboat craft.

Safety Protocols for SLPS Athletic Games

METAL DETECTORS To enhance security, walk-through metal detectors will be in use periodically and unannounced at athletic events. BAG/BACKPACK GUIDELINES Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap are permitted. Large bags or backpacks will not be permitted at any St. Lucie Public Schools football games. We encourage you to plan accordingly and bring only essential items. FOOTBALL ENTRY RESTRICTIONS There will be no entry allowed after the start of the 3rd quarter. Please make sure to arrive on time to enjoy the full game experience.

Safety First!

At the June School Board Meeting, Crossing Guards Martha Lewis and Annette Wallace were recognized as STAR Award recipients for outstanding service to children and their community. Their positive contribution to the safe passage of students to and from school was appreciated by a citizen and shared with the District.  Both Ms. Lewis and Ms. Wallace are to be commended on their diligence at keeping children safe and drivers in check with safe speeds at the intersection of 13th Street and Virginia Avenue. We thank you and congratulate you for your service!

Friends, families, businesses, and organizations came together on Saturday, April 27th for a day of fun, food, festivities, and demonstrations at the 5th Annual Safety Fest held at the Digital Domain Stadium in Port St. Lucie. The Ft. Pierce Central High School JROTC Color Guard and St. Lucie West Centennial High School Band opened the event by presenting the Colors and playing the National Anthem. St. Lucie Public Schools was represented by Transportation, FDLRS, Media Services, Magnet School Programs, and General Programs of Study.

Third grade Allapattah Flats K8 student Sadie Garcia, daughter of Jennifer and Brian Garcia, won a raffle fundraiser prize for the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce of being St. Lucie Schools’ Superintendent for the Day. S.T.E.A.M Programs Shine as Families Attend MSAP Magnet Expo

Full S.T.E.A.M. ahead! Hundreds of families stopped by the St. Lucie Public Schools District office Wednesday night to learn more about the MSAP Magnet School offerings during the second annual MSAP Magnet Schools Expo.  Families were greeted by teams from the two MSAP Magnet K-8 schools, Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie and Samuel S. During Thanksgiving break, the Morningside Elementary School “Girls on the Run” team proudly participated in the 5k Celebration! After 10 weeks of dedicated training, the girls showcased their hard work and determination.
