SLPS Educators Attend, Present, and Are Honored at Florida’s Council for the Social Studies Conference

Nineteen educators from St. Lucie Public Schools recently attended the 58th Annual Florida Council for the Social Studies Conference in Orlando, Florida.  Dr. Susan Taboada of Treasure Coast High School and Dr. Karen Garcia-Rinelli of Oak Hammock K-8 presented three sessions at the conference introducing a variety of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) applications that can be utilized in social studies classrooms. SLPS Education Referendum Passes with 66% of the Vote

St. Lucie Public Schools Superintendent E. Wayne Gent and School Board members thank St. Lucie County voters and community members for supporting the education referendum with a 66% vote. “The record number of returned ballots and support from our community speaks volumes to the value placed on a quality public school education system. On behalf of the SLPS District Office Events Committee, $500 was donated to Grace Packs.  Laura Klosterman and Lisa Ferrick from Grace Packs accepted the gift on behalf of the nonprofit organization that provides students and their families with weekend food source packages.  

SLPS District Commissioners Academic Competition 2025

On January 17th, students from all 6 comprehensive high schools and Mosaic Digital Academy competed against each other in a rigorous academic competition testing their academic prowess! Students answered questions from content areas ranging from Music, Foreign Language, English, Mathematics, Science, and more. SLPS Continues To Enhance Safety and Security

Chief Brian Reuther of  the SLPS Security Department announced today that Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers banners will be placed in all K-8 and middle schools as a step toward expanding awareness of the Crime Stoppers program.  Last year, in partnership with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, the program began on high school campuses. Safety is a priority for SLPS, and the District will remain vigilant in monitoring campuses and buses.  It is up to everyone to immediately report any concerns or suspicious activities directly to law enforcement or staff members. St. Lucie Public Schools 2017-2018 Graduation Rates Projections and Industry Certifications Point to More Growth Growing by leaps and bounds is the best way to describe St. Lucie Public Schools’ (SLPS) graduation rate and industry certification ascent over the last few years. Projections for this year’s graduating class indicate the upward trend will continue. This holds true for industry certification trends as well. SLPS Comprehensive Mental Health Plan Receives DOE Approval

The 2020-2021 Comprehensive Mental Health Plan submitted by SLPS recently obtained approval from the Florida Department of Education. This plan provides a comprehensive overview of an established infrastructure designed to address the mental, social and emotional, and behavioral needs of all children. Included in the plan is a synopsis of the many existing programs and services currently available in SLPS, as well as plans for the district’s expansion of services utilizing the Mental Health Services Allocation and the dollars generated through the passage of the voter referendum in St. Lucie County which provides additional dollars to support mental health. SLPS Class of 2026 Goes to FAU

The Office of Teaching and Learning’s Secondary Programs took another amazing group of students from the class of 2026 to tour Florida Atlantic University on March 27th. The group of juniors represented all 6 of our comprehensive high schools.  It was the first time for many of these students to be on a university campus. In addition to touring the campus, they had the opportunity to hear directly from the Admissions Department regarding application essentials and resources on campus. SLPS Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

Every year, from October 23-31, more than 80 million people – both kids and adults – show their support for a healthy, drug-free life by wearing or displaying the red ribbon. Red Ribbon Week is a great reminder of why living a drug-free life is important. It’s a chance for parents, teachers, and communities to unite and reinforce the drug-free messages they share with kids all year. The eight-day celebration is an annual way to show that we won’t accept drugs in our schools, workplaces, or communities.
