In an effort to ensure students are well-prepared for the upcoming FAST exams in Algebra and Geometry, SLW Centennial organized a math boot camp on a recent Saturday morning. SLW Centennial has been hosting college visits for students to learn about colleges and universities.  Students have attended assemblies to learn about Florida State University, University of South Florida, University of Miami, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, NOVA, and Florida Southern College. The information sessions provide a structured opportunity for students to learn about academic programs, admissions requirements, financial aid, campus life, and career pathways. SLW Centennial High School recently held boot camps for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, targeting students in the bottom quartile. The 9th and 10th grade boot camp focused on ELA students, while the 11th grade boot camp was dedicated to History students. These initiatives aimed to equip students with effective testing strategies and boost their confidence through motivational speeches and engaging activities. Students in Centennial’s Medical Academy participated in HOSA’s toy drive this holiday season.  They are making Christmas bright for children on the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee.  The HOSA students collected over 175 gifts for the children.    

SLW Centennial’s HOSA students made cards for the Holiday season. They will be sent to a non-profit company called Cards For Kids where they distribute the cards to pediatric patients spending the holidays in the hospital.

SLW Centennial’s HOSA students made holiday cards for hospitalized kids. They will be sent to “Cards for Hospitalized Kids” and distributed in Hospitals & Ronald McDonald Houses across the nation. HOSA and the medical academy will be donating cards every holiday.

Autumn Tagmeyer, SLW Centennial High School student, placed second in the Regional HOSA Competition for Medical Law and Ethics. She is qualified to compete at the state competition in Orlando in April. Congratulations Autumn!!!

On Tuesday, October 3, SLW Centennial HOSA hosted a blood drive. The blood drive was a huge success! They were able to collect 75 pints with 11 of them being platelets! Overall, it was a great turnout, especially for the first one in years.  The blood donations will help to save so many lives!!!  Way to go EAGLES!

SLW Centennial recently held a celebration to honor teachers and staff members retiring at the end of the school year. The event was a chance for the school community to express gratitude for the years of dedication and service these individuals have given. Principal Popwell led the ceremony, presenting each retiree with a special plaque that highlighted their years of service at Centennial. The atmosphere was filled with appreciation and warm memories as colleagues reflected on the lasting impact these educators have made. The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC Navy Eagles “Black Talon” Company held its Annual Military Ball on Friday, April 14th, 2023.  The “Black Talon” Unit held the event at the Hutchinson Shores Resort and Spa located in Jensen Beach. The event started at 5 PM with a “Social Hour” so cadets, parents, and school officials could mingle and socialize. FBI Agent Gavin Gumbinner visited the Law Academy at SLW Centennial High School and met with Ms. Oliveira’s and Ms. Baumgarten’s classes.  The students learned about how to become an FBI agent, the responsibilities of an FBI agent and he answered general questions that the students had.

The SLW Centennial High School Key Club helped the Fort Pierce Sunrise Kiwanis Club clean Jaycee Park on Saturday, October 28.  Thank you EAGLES for making a difference in our community.

On January 6th, SLW Centennial High School held its second annual Student Recovery Day. This is a heartfelt initiative aimed at reconnecting with students who had chronic absences and low GPAs during the first semester. Teachers, counselors, and staff members split into teams to visit approximately 65 families, reaching out to students who had been struggling with attendance and academic performance. The primary goal of these visits is to let students and their families know that they are missed and valued members of the school community.
