SLW Wrestling Team Advances to State Competitions

The St. Lucie West Centennial High School wrestling team, led by Head Coach Troy Surloff, and the girls’ wrestling team, coached by Jacob Pryor, took on tough competition at the District tournament—emerging with multiple standout performances and several athletes advancing to Regionals. SLW Centennial’s Unified Bowling Team Advances to State Competition

SLW Centennial’s Unified team is made up of 5 amazing athletes: Jason Chi Ho Zhang, Ryle Sacchi, Emmanuel Dolcine, Lesly Aparicio, and Brandie Gibbs. Each of these athletes gave it their all on October 13th and made their way to States. Congratulations to our Centennial Unified Bowling team for their advancement to States Bowlings on November 4th.

SLW Centennial’s Navy JROTC Competes in Cooper City Brain Brawl

  The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company’s Academic Team Traveled to Cooper City, Florida, on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 to participate in the Cooper City Brain Brawl hosted by the Cooper City High School’s NJROTC. The Academic Team competed with two Teams, Team Alpha and Team Bravo, against 15 others teams from all over the State of Florida. This event provided our seniors with a fantastic opportunity to take a significant step toward their future by applying to Indian River State College (IRSC). The Eagles Nest Preschool is the recipient of $1000 grant awarded by Wells Fargo Bank. Wells Fargo’s Community Connection Grant Program is an annual program where each of the company’s retail banking stores and Business Banking teams explore the needs of their local communities and select a nonprofit organization or school to receive a $1,000 grant.  This year, Wells Fargo will award more than $600,000 in grants to 600-plus nonprofit organizations and schools throughout Florida. SLW Centennial’s Criminal Justice Student Completes Judicial Internship with Judge Maynard

St. Lucie West Centennial’s Criminal Justice/Law Academy student, Vincent Chin, was selected from all the local high schools to intern with U.S. Magistrate Judge Shaniek Maynard.  Vincent and Judge Maynard worked together from July 5 until August 5, and was an official member of Judge Maynard’s Chamber Staff.  This prestigious internship was based on teacher recommendations and afforded Vincent the chance to earn community service hours during his time as an intern. SLW Centennial’s Athletic Director Becomes Certified as Master Athletic Administrator

SLW Centennial’s Athletic Director, Steven Ripley, has been awarded the CMAA Certification. CMAA is the acronym for Certified Master Athletic Administrator. He is now part of a very elite group of Athletic Administrators. Only five percent of all athletic directors in the United States have achieved the CMAA level. His dedication and commitment is impressive. We appreciate what he does for Centennial, the Athletic Department, and the student athletes.

The SLW Centennial Eagles played well at the Spring Football Game held at the South County Stadium. The matchups were short and intense. However, the varsity squad showed resilience and skill by winning both games. In the first game, the Eagles played Heritage High School with a close 7-6 victory. Their defense held strong under pressure, securing the win in the final moments. The second game was just as intense, with SLW Centennial narrowly defeating St. Lucius 15-14.
