The teachers visited restaurants in Tradition including PGA Golf Club, Longhorn Steakhouse, HopCat, The Great Greek, Panera, and Pop Stroke. The Krawls establish collaboration and partnerships to enhance job opportunities and enrich classrooms with relevant industry needs. Along the way, they saw several St. Lucie Public Schools Culinary graduates working in the local restaurants.   We are very poud of our culinary students!

St. Lucie County students rank number one in the nation for the Middle School Zero Robotics Challenge held on the International Space Station on Tuesday, August 13th. Two teams of students participated in the 5-week summer program held at Southern Oaks Middle School. Kevin McInerney and Brian Jones facilitated the teams to learn about and write programs that could control satellites in space.  The participants competed with 26 other teams across the nation to win a technically challenging game by programming their strategies into a SPHERE satellite.  A series of elimination tournaments were conducted with astronauts on the International Space Station and the event was … Read More

St. Lucie County Schools hosted its annual Teacher Recruitment Fair on June 23, 2014 with over 150 applicants attending this event.  School leaders from 16 schools interviewed prospective teachers in preparation for the coming school year which begins August 18, 2014. Recognizing that the greatest impact on student success is high quality instruction one of the District’s Strategic Goals is to recruit and retain effective teachers for all classrooms.   As one of several recruitment strategies the Fair provided an opportunity to hire teachers before school starts. The St. Lucie County Reading Council invites parents and students to Bookfest – a March 5, 2016, literacy event hosted by C.A. Moore Elementary School in Fort Pierce. This free reading festival is scheduled from 10 AM to noon and is designed to provide attendees with a wide variety of literacy resources and information.  Activities and resource stations include: Read to a VIP, Community Resource Information Station, Literacy Games and Prizes, Free Literacy Resource Center, Book Exchange, Mother Goose, and much more!  

The annual St. Lucie County High School Art Show opening is Friday, April 20th, from 5 to 8pm.  This year’s show takes place in the Galleria of Pierce Harbor building at 100 S. 2nd St. in Ft. Pierce. An awards ceremony will take place at 7:15 after the closing of “Peoples’ Choice” voting. Students will be judged in 6 categories for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, plus a “Peoples’ Choice” award. 180 Early Childhood Educators engaged in a morning of learning, laughter, and comradery, hosted by the SLPS Early Childhood Department, ALPI-Head Start, The Early Learning Coalition, and the Children’s Services Council. Fabulous keynote sessions were delivered by: Chancellor Cari Miller and Mandy Rowland, FLDOE; Mabel Ramirez, Discount School Supply; and Tony Chaidez, Lakeshore Learning. 90% of a child’s brain is developed by the age of 5. We greatly appreciate the educators of our youngest students!
