The first week of school at Oak Hammock K-8 was filled with excitement, anticipation, and school spirit as our newest Ospreys participated in an exciting event: House Selection!
At Oak Hammock, students do not choose their House. Instead, our Houses choose them.
New students eagerly approached the House Box and reached inside to reveal a colored band representing their House assignment. As each color was unveiled, cheers, smiles, and excitement filled the room as students discovered which of our six Houses they will call home throughout their Oak Hammock journey.
The House System is an important part of our school culture, fostering a sense of belonging, positive relationships, leadership, and friendly competition. Every student and staff member is a member of one of our Houses, creating connections that cross grade levels and bring our entire school community together.
For many students, the moment of reaching into the House Box was one they will remember. The suspense of not knowing which House awaited them made the experience even more memorable. Once assigned, students proudly joined their House family and immediately became part of a tradition centered on teamwork, character, and school pride.
Throughout the school year, Houses will earn points by demonstrating positive behavior, academic effort, leadership, and citizenship. Students will participate in House celebrations and competitions while working together to help their House soar to success.
The enthusiasm and energy displayed during our first week reminded us why the House System is such a special part of the Oak Hammock experience. We can’t wait to watch our newest Ospreys build friendships, show leadership, and represent their Houses with pride throughout the year.
At Oak Hammock K-8, every Osprey belongs, every Osprey contributes, and every Osprey soars!
