Northport K-8 kindergarten and first-grade families gathered under twinkling string lights and the warm glow of faux campfires for a night of literacy, laughter, and learning at our Camp UFLI. Hosted by our dedicated literacy coach, interventionist, and primary teachers, the event transformed our Student and Family Resource Center into a cozy campground where reading came alive in the most imaginative ways. Families learned about heart words, blendable sounds, and the importance of reading at home. They were also given take-home resources and tips on how to support reading at home using UFLI strategies. The goal was to empower families to become active partners in their child’s literacy journey—and judging by the smiles and laughter, that goal was met with glowing success. Northport K-8 is grateful to our families who joined us and looks forward to many more nights where learning feels like an adventure.
