St. Lucie Public Schools bands and choral ensembles filled the Fenn Center with the sound of music on April 13 in celebration of Music in Our Schools. With nearly 500 students from across the District performing, audiences enjoyed a wide range of musical selections as students showcased their talents for their community. The concert, hosted by Jane Whitaker and organized by Dr. Kevin Perry, was presented in round robin style. According to Whitaker, “Music is a creative process that serves to inspire and motivate both the performer and the listener.”
This concert comes on the heels of Music in Ours Schools Month which was founded in 1973 by the National Association for Music Education. Its goal is to stress the importance and benefits of a high quality comprehensive, sequential music education program in our schools taught by exemplary music educators.
