Mariposa Elementary VPK students are practicing discussing options, how to problem solve, how to use trial and error, and most importantly, how to be cooperative. Mrs. Claudia Bonilla’s VPK students defined the words, provided examples, saw a video, and listened to a Sesame Street song. They cut 5 pieces out of each rectangle to make it look like a puzzle. Then they had to draw, color, and decorate their pieces. Once they finished the task, the students then had to show cooperation by working together, taking turns, and putting the pieces back together in the form of the rectangle. These activities support skills in the Social & Emotional Development Domain which students maintain friendships and are able to engage in prosocial behavior such as cooperating, compromising, and turn-taking.
