Looking For Ways to Support Students in Need?

Below is a letter from Grace Way Village that shares ways in which students in need can be assisted with school clothing and nutrition needs:

Dear St. Lucie County School Teachers and Guidance Counselors:

For the sake of those who do not know about Grace Way Village, a well-established nonprofit serving those in need for the last 9 years, here is a brief rundown of all that we do:

  • Provide free clothing for all children in need thru the age of 18
(If student is still enrolled in HS, thru the age of 20)
  • Provide free a hot lunch on Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00 and a hot dinner on Sundays from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
  • Provide free nonperishable food for all Sunday dinner guests to take home
  • Provide free basic life workshops on Wednesdays
  • Provide free the “Getting Ahead” class for adults striving to get out of poverty

Yearly, we host a summer expo for teachers to come and meet with over 20 local nonprofits that can assist them in helping their students in need. It is very important that you know the following:

  • Grace Way Village appreciates greatly all that you do for your students
  • Grace Way Village wants to assist you whenever there is a need
  • All the local nonprofits feel the same. You are not alone in your efforts!

Grace Way Village can help you with immediate needs of clothing and food. Here is how:

  • Call 772.529.7860 (cell phone, do not give to parents), leaving the following information:
  • Child’s clothing information: sex, size (child’s or teen’s) for shirt, pants, & shoes
  • If food is needed, provide the # of family members
  • Your name, school, & cell number. You will be contacted as soon as the items have been gathered for you to pick up.
  • If it is on a Wednesday when the clothing program, Hope’s Closet, is open, you may stop by to either shop yourself or to pick up the items if you have previously called in the information noted above. Please arrive no later than 4:45 p.m.

All of us at Grace Way Village care deeply for our neighbors in need, appreciating the truth of all that teachers do. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us for assistance. You will not be disappointed!

Sincerely,

Cathie Mouring
