FORT PIERCE, FL C.A. Moore Instructor Nardi Routten stood before the Florida Cabinet this week with six other Florida educators of distinction as Governor Rick Scott recognized them with the Shine Award. This prestigious award is presented to teachers and administrators in Florida who make significant contributions to the field of education.

According to a press release issued from the Florida Department of Education, Governor Rick Scott said, “I am proud to present these outstanding educators with the Governor’s Shine Award and thank them for their commitment to ensuring students reach their full potential. The educators honored today represent the thousands of great teachers around the state who are dedicated to preparing students for college and a future career.”

Routten’s fourth graders couldn’t agree more.  Principal Ucola Barrett-Baxter said the students are eager to get to class as soon as they arrive on campus.  “Each day is a new adventure – they just can’t wait to discover what Mrs. Routten has planned for them to solve, to explore, or to create.  Her classroom is very collaborative in nature with a rigorous pace, challenging work, can-do culture, and supportive infrastructure.”

Nardi Routten is a 20-year veteran educator and the 2015 Milken Educator Award winner.  She is also a member of the Teacher Leader Fellowship 2016, member of Leadership Florida, Education Class II and is currently working on her second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
