The proud sponsor of the Fort Pierce Central High School Speech and Debate team, Mrs. Jennifer Wright, coaches this group of bright and dedicated FPC Cobras who are concluding their season with remarkable strength. Throughout the year, these talented students have diligently honed their Civic Knowledge, Public Speaking, and Debate skills, culminating in their qualification and participation at the prestigious Florida Civics and Debate Initiative (FCDI) State Championship held at the esteemed New College of Florida.
The state-wide competition showcased the exceptional talent within the team, with several members distinguishing themselves through their hard work and intellectual prowess. Among those who earned well-deserved recognition for their outstanding performances are Amy Alfonso, who demonstrated exceptional insight and persuasive argumentation in Legislative Debate, and Amani Mohd, who also excelled in Legislative Debate, showcasing a deep understanding of civic processes and policy. Adding to the team’s accolades, Anyely Roque-Perera shone brightly in Extemporaneous Debate, demonstrating an impressive ability to think on her feet and articulate well-reasoned arguments on a variety of topics.
Adding another layer of triumph to Anyely’s accomplishments, she also achieved the significant feat of qualifying for the Incubate Debate National Finals, which will take place later this month. This national qualification is a testament to her dedication and skill in the competitive world of debate.
