FPC Marching Cobras Crowned Grand Champions!

Cobra Nation is beaming with pride for our Band Director Joshua Daniels and our Marching Cobras being honored as the GRAND CHAMPIONS of the 2023 42nd Annual Crown Jewel Marching Band Competition! All together our students brought home the Sheila Knight Sammon’s Memorial Award for Best Overall Band in Show. The Marching Cobras also earned Best in Class Music and Visual Performance, Best in Platinum Class, and an overall Superior for Auxiliary and for the Band as a whole!

The annual Crown Jewel Marching Band Festival is held in Vero Beach at the Citrus Bowl. Founded in 1981, it is one of the oldest continuous marching festivals in Florida. It has approximately 25 bands competing in 5 classifications every year with judges ranging in backgrounds, including BOA, DCI, WGI, FBA, FMBC, FFCC training, and adjudicating.

Fort Pierce Central High School made history as they took home the Overall Best Band award at the 42nd annual Crown Jewel Festival of marching bands. This was the first time that the school had won the award, making the victory even sweeter.  Despite the tough competition, Fort Pierce Central High School’s band stood out with their impressive performance. The band’s hard work and dedication paid off as they wowed the judges and the audience with their precision and musicality. The band’s director, Joshua Daniels, was thrilled with the win and praised the students for their hard work and commitment to excellence.

Fort Pierce Central High School’s victory is a testament to the school’s commitment to the arts and the importance of music education. The win will undoubtedly inspire future generations of students to pursue their passion for music and strive for excellence in all their endeavors.

This year’s show includes four unique movements transporting listeners and viewers to hidden dwellings of magic, mystery, and the enchanted! Movement 1 features a Come Little Children from the original Hocus Pocus along with Shostkovich’s Symphony no. 10. Movement 2 features a number from the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Chopin’s Funeral March. Movement 3 features My Immortal by Evanescence. Lastly, movement 4 is Danse’s Macabre.
