FPC JROTC Cadet slected for 2014 Girls State

Every year, local students fill out an application, write two essays and are interviewed to compete for a spot to go to Tallahassee for a chance to experience and participate in our states government. Out of all applicants, only 300 girls get this honor. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 318 is proud to give this opportunity to a very deserving candidate.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 318, Port St. Lucie, President Debbie Johnston would like to congratulate Nicole Geldmaker for being the 2014 Girls State recipient. Nicole attends Fort Pierce Central High School and is the Battalion Commander for the JROTC under the direction of LTC (R) Al Nevárez. She is vice president of the Debate Team as well as a member of the National Honor Society. Her sights are set on attending West Point Military Academy and obtaining a degree as a pharmacist then serving in the Army for five years. She is very active in our community volunteering more than 500 hours. One platform she is passionate about is education reform and educating other students about government.
