HUGE praise goes out to the Westwood Army JROTC Raider Team who volunteered their Saturday, on April 6th, to compete in the 3rd Annual “Battle of the Branches” charity event held at the Florida Tech Challenge Course, in Fellsmere. The event is sponsored by Do You Give a Ruck? (DYGAR) which is a local veteran-run non-profit organization.
100% of the money that is raised at this annual event (from entries and donations) is used to help build homes for local homeless veterans and their families.
Participants carried backpacks filled with donated non-perishable food and hygiene items. At the end of the run, the items are collected for further distribution to families in need.
JROTC programs (representing all branches of the military), along with local military recruiters, first responders, veterans, and just everyday people who support the military participated in the event.
For a third consecutive year, our Cadets slugged out a 3.1-Mile course with (18) very difficult and physically demanding obstacles, in 90-degree heat to support this great cause.
These dedicated young leaders continue to represent Westwood and the Army JROTC Program with the utmost professionalism.
