Fort Pierce Central High School’s National Art Honor Society and Mrs. Royo have once again demonstrated its commitment to creativity, innovation, and student-driven excellence by earning the “Out of the Box” Award at the 2026 St. Lucie County Fair’s annual school display competition. The accolade recognizes schools whose exhibits push beyond traditional design concepts to deliver fresh, inventive, and engaging visual storytelling.
This year’s fair highlighted educational vision and future‑minded learning across the district, with schools interpreting themes focused on growth, collaboration, vibrant teams, clubs, student organizations, and forward‑thinking pathways. Fort Pierce Central’s National Art Honor Society work diligently starting in January their display for the 2026 theme of “Growing Minds and Growing Futures” — embodied this spirit by showcasing how students cultivate knowledge, creativity, and leadership in a dynamic and supportive learning environment. NAHS students constructed a two-part 9′ tall tree with glowing lights hung from branches, a flowing and glittering stream, featured bubbling and rushing water sounds as well as gentle bird calls, painted rocks donated by our friends at FL Falls, and hand-painted flowers signed by members of all 30 plus student clubs.
A Display Rooted in Growth and Imagination
Designed and constructed by dedicated students and staff, the exhibit blended artistic craftsmanship with purposeful symbolism. Interactive elements, visual metaphors of plant growth, and representations of academic and sustainable job and life pathways came together to illustrate the school’s mission: nurturing learners who are prepared to thrive in an ever‑changing world.
The “Out of the Box” Award specifically celebrates displays that break conventions through creativity and conceptual originality. Fort Pierce Central previously earned recognition for inventive fair displays — most recently highlighted on the school’s Cobra News — demonstrating a strong tradition of excellence in visual showcase events.
