Fort Pierce Central High School Students Debate Lenin’s Role

In Mrs. Belizaire’s AICE European History classes at Fort Pierce Central, students recently tackled the compelling question: “Did Lenin hijack the revolution?” Working in pairs, they analyzed historical texts, annotated key passages, and gathered evidence to support multiple perspectives.

The lesson emphasized critical thinking and academic discourse. As students collaborated, Mrs. Belizaire guided the process by posing thought-provoking questions that deepened analysis and encouraged engagement. This interactive approach created a dynamic environment in which students refined their arguments and strengthened their understanding of complex historical events.

The activity culminated in a structured debate, allowing students to apply research and reasoning to articulate well-supported positions. By blending document analysis with discussion and debate, the lesson enhanced content mastery and developed essential skills in argumentation and collaboration.
