Fort Pierce Central High School Speech and Debate Team Achieves Big Wins

The Fort Pierce Central Speech and Debate Team wrapped up an incredible season filled with milestones, victories, and prestigious opportunities! November kicked off with FPC hosting an exciting FCDI Regional Tournament, drawing schools from across the area. Our Cobras rose to the occasion with 28 competitors  who participated in the tournament, and 12 earned coveted spots as state qualifiers.

The momentum continued in Palm Beach County, where four talented members competed among hundreds of skilled debaters and returned with remarkable results. Anyely Roque-Perera secured 5th place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Nicole Lin impressed with her compelling Original Oratory, and the Public Forum duo of Cecelia Biglin and Jesus Rivera Nieves demonstrated outstanding teamwork throughout the event.

The highlight of the season came on December 15, when Jesus Rivera Nieves and Camila Salcedo Lind represented FPC at the prestigious Governor’s Cup. They delivered an exhibition debate supporting the Florida Civics and Debate Initiative during a fundraiser for the Florida Education Foundation. The students spoke before Governor Ron DeSantis and an audience of state leaders, educators, and business executives. These achievements reflect the dedication and excellence of our team.
