Floresta Elementary students send holiday messages to military

The holiday season is usually thought of as a magical time, full of opportunities to spend quality time with family and friends, and a time for giving to others.  In keeping with that theme, Floresta Elementary School students participated in the fifth annual 2011 American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program.  Students from K-5 wrote letters and made cards expressing their heartfelt appreciation to the service men and women of the U.S. Military, many of whom will likely spend the holiday season in isolation, separated from families and loved ones.  This program allows students to reach out to these individuals, recognizing their many sacrifices, and letting them know that even though they are far away, they are not alone.
