First Vote Week

Supervisor of Elections Gertrude Walker requested the Board’s endorsement of the “First Vote Week” Proclamation for March 11-15, 2019, that upholds a non-partisan, classroom-based voter education, registration and citizenship program conducted in Social Studies and American Government classes for high school students.

The goal of the Supervisor of Elections is to give every student the opportunity to register to vote at age 18 or pre-register at age 16 and 17.  The Supervisor of Elections and her staff will be on high school campuses to assist students and teachers with voter registration in support of the First Vote program.
