At Manatee Academy, student support is always within reach. For quite some time, Dean Wallman and Dean Damas have implemented a unique approach we proudly call “Deans on Wheels.” While they continue to manage responsibilities from their offices, they also travel throughout grade level pods and hallways with mobile carts, bringing discipline directly to students and classrooms.
This model was implemented with school data in mind, highlighting the importance of the Dean’s presence during the school day and shared spaces. By working in close proximity to students, the deans are able to provide immediate guidance, encouragement, and assistance throughout the day. Teachers benefit from real-time support, and students experience consistent expectations no matter where they are on campus.
Their mobile carts allow them to carry needed materials, reflection tools, and resources, making it easy to help students problem solve, celebrate positive choices, and reinforce Manatee’s S.T.A.R. expectations: Stay on Task, Take Responsibility, Act Safely, and Respect Myself and Others right in the moment.
