CPR Training for FPWA JROTC Cadets

At various points during the school year, Cadets from the JROTC Program have trained on how to administer treatment for various types of situations that require First Aid.

This past week, they focused on CPR for both adults and small children.

Students received classroom instruction for two days before moving into practical and scenario-based exercises, that served to build their confidence and proficiency in performing the potentially life-saving skill.

Students will be adding a “How to Perform CPR” section to their First Aid Quick Reference Guide, which is an end-of-the-quarter project that they can keep (and possibly use), if should they ever find themselves in a situation that calls for immediate action.

This semester, each student has been building a ring-bound, laminated (on 3×5 cards) quick reference guide with detailed steps on how to do the following: Perform CPR, Splint a Fracture, Treat for Inhaled and Swallowed Poisons, Treat Burns, Treat Shock, and Control Bleeding (Apply a Field Dressing, Pressure Dressing, and Tourniquets).
