Twin Cobra Seniors, Grace and Emily Welby are academically inclined, incredibly focused, and college-bound! Emily is heading to the University of Florida and Grace will be attending the University of Michigan.

Mother and licensed psychologist for SLC, Shelley Welby says she is “so excited for them to start the next phase of their lives” and know the girls are “more than ready!” Although Mrs. Welby admits that she is a mixed range of emotions, she trusts in their decisions-making and “prays for their safety. They are really, really great kids – I got so lucky that they are secure in who they are and know what they want to do.”
Emily and Grace applied to several schools with the help of their guidance counselor Mrs. Johnson. The twins both applied and were wait-listed at George Washington in D.C. The notable school was offering a buy-one-get-one 1/2 off deal for twins at the time.
Grace has chosen the University of Michigan to expand out of Florida while Emily chose Florida to be affordable and stay closer. Admittedly, Mrs. Welby “would prefer that they go to the same school,” she takes comfort in Emily being within driving distance at UF and Grace will be close to the Welby’s Michigan family. Distance is one part of moving forward into the next phase of their lives. “I think it is going to be interesting to see how they get along without each other. They are actually very close and do pretty much everything together” Mrs. Welby shares.
Emily is planning on going into International Studies, likes political science, law, and government. She is interested in specializing Middle Eastern Cultures. Grace is going into the biology field, wants to be a surgeon and still exploring her specialty options. The twins agree they will both make time to keep up with one another and travel home as much as they can.
