Central’s Psychology Club Presents “Rest to De-Stress”

This week, Fort Pierce Central High School’s Psychology Club transformed an ordinary lunchtime into an extraordinary opportunity for relaxation and fun with their “Rest to De-Stress” event. Designed to help students unwind and recharge, the event was packed with activities aimed at promoting mental well-being and fostering positive connections within the school community. Psychology Club Sponsor Mrs. Homan, school psychologist Mrs. Dottin, School Social Worker Mrs. Thomas, and club members enthusiastically ran the event, engaging with their peers and creating an inviting and inclusive atmosphere.

Held in the courtyard during both lunches, the event featured an array of engaging and calming activities for students to enjoy. Sticker coloring stations and word puzzles offered a creative and soothing way to de-stress, while balloon games and hopscotch brought out everyone’s playful side. Positive notes of affirmation were displayed throughout the space, serving as gentle reminders of self-worth and resilience, and encouraging students to spread kindness to themselves and others.

Adding an extra treat to the mix, students who earned PBIS purple tickets got snow cones. Waiting in line did not deter students from enjoying a sweet and refreshing way to cool off in the Florida sunshine. Thanks to Ms. O., Mrs. DeVries, Mrs. Mazzo, Mrs. Armada, and Gardening Club leadership for keeping the snow cool on the cones!

The “Rest to De-Stress” event perfectly aligned with the club’s mission to raise awareness about mental health and provide resources to support students’ emotional health. By blending fun, creativity, and community, students soon learned that self-care doesn’t have to be complicated—it can be as simple as coloring a sticker, enjoying a snow cone, or reading a kind note.

The success of “Rest to De-Stress” has already sparked excitement for future events. Fort Pierce Central is fortunate to have such a passionate and proactive group dedicated to creating a supportive and stress-free environment for all. Thanks to Cobra Pals, BETA, FAITH Unv, Gardening, SGA, and additional clubs that sponsored activity tables. A special thank you to our Cobra Strong custodial staff for their flexibility and facilities support.
