Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers from middle and high school programs participated in multiple professional development (PD) sessions at Keiser University, Tradition Campus. The CTE Educators gained further insight into the articulation agreements, scholarship opportunities, and continuing education from Keiser University representatives (Mrs. Linda Fitzpatrick, Dr. Nicol, and Dr. Reed). Professional development opportunities included Junior Achievement of the Palm Beaches & Treasure Coast, hosted by Ms. Emma Green and Mrs. Katie Thompson. This session was all about Developing An Entrepreneurial Mindset within each of the CTE programs with activities. Junior Achievement gave each educator the ‘WHY’ behind what we do everyday for our students. Additionally, our very own Col. Golden (Treasure Coast High School) led one of the PD sessions on the use of drones in JROTC and CTE. The ‘CTE Drone Takeover’ showed our educators the many ways of connecting with students at the middle school level, and addressing the need for middle school students to consider potential pathways now as they progress from middle to high school. As a bonus, our CTE educators were able to practice their flight skills with obstacle courses they may use within their classrooms.
