In Mrs. Enoch’s and Pank’s Writing and Science Lab, students enthusiastically participated in the interactive game “Eat or Be Eaten.” This engaging educational tool allowed them to actively construct food chains, providing a hands-on learning experience. Through the game, students explored the intricate relationships within ecosystems, gaining a deeper understanding of the roles of various organisms. They learned about producers, which are typically plants that create their own food through photosynthesis. They also identified primary consumers, such as herbivores that eat the producers, and secondary consumers, which are carnivores or omnivores that prey on primary consumers. Additionally, the game highlighted the role of tertiary consumers, the top predators in the food chain. By simulating these interactions, the game made complex ecological concepts more accessible and memorable.
