St. Lucie Public Schools Superintendent E. Wayne Gent recently accepted a donation of 200 sackpacks containing essential school supplies from the Office Depot Business Solutions Division. The sackpacks will be distributed to deserving students within the school district. SLWK-8 Students Participate in Future Chef Competition

On Saturday, October 24,  SLWK8 students competed as a team in the Future Chef Competition held in Ft. Pierce at the Green Market. Students competed against the local high schools and one other K-8 school in this event.   The Shark Chef Team (Casie Schulz,  Laravanessa Cano and Gabriella Quimby) showed well with their appetizer of Savory Shrimp Persimmon and Plum Skewers over Orange Ginger Jasmine Rice and served an entree of Banh Mi with Watermelon Salad.  The judges particularly enjoyed that many flavors from the market were showcased and added that our chefs exhibited outstanding culinary skills.       … Read More

Lighthouse Foundation Makes Donation to Westwood

State Representative Larry Lee along with Tom Jones from the SLC Education Foundation, Dr. David Washington, and Olivia Watkins stopped by Westwood High School to present the school with a check from the Lighthouse Foundation and other private donors. Disability Awareness Month – JTV Chats Topic

Students in Port St. Lucie High School’s TV Production program exercised their technical, creative, collaborative, and communication skills as they took full responsibility for the production of the high schools’ first in a series of informative segments known as “JTV Chats.” The inaugural show was hosted by Sarah El Khoury, senior at PSLHS, and featured Mr. Bill Tomlinson, Executive Director of Student Services and Exceptional Student Education. Technical direction behind the scenes was attributed to Javid Khan and Tyrik Coleman, also seniors at PSLHS.

IRSC Volleyball Team Is a Big Hit at C.A. Moore

Indian River State College Volleyball Team volunteered to read with kindergarten students at C.A. Moore Elementary thanks to Head Coach Stephanie Skidmore and Assistant Coach Aubree Parker. Coach Aubree Parker is also the P.E. Teacher at C.A. Moore Elementary.

Bayshore Welcomes Dads

On September 30, Bayshore Elementary welcomed fathers and male role models to observe the Dads Take Your Child to School Day. The media center received 120 fathers and male role models representing 146 students, or 20% of the student body, who were greeted by the school administrators and teachers. During the event, fathers and male role models participated in the signing of the pledge as a demonstration of their commitment to their children’s education. Fathers were also invited and encouraged to participate in future Dads Take Your Child to School Day events.

St. Lucie Turns On Lights for Afterschool on October 22nd

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – St. Lucie Public Schools unites with other communities across the nation on October 22nd to turn the lights on for afterschool programs and activities. During this rally for afterschool program awareness, more than twenty-five area afterschool programs are expected to participate in the 16th annual Lights On Afterschool.
