School Board Chair Dr. Donna Mills was at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center with SLPS educators and Executive Director of Exceptional Student Education and Student Services Bill Tomlinson taking a STOP THE BLEED Training. The training was all about saving a life by knowing how to stop bleeding of open wounds after an injury. A New Look

The Port St. Lucie High School (PSLHS) Jaguar Cafeteria is undergoing a facelift.  The school’s mascot is boosting school spirit around campus and what better place to make an impact than in the cafeteria! Beeping Eggs

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Team partnered with Westside Church and St. Lucie Public Schools to again offer a “beeping” Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, March 29.  The event took place at Westside Church. The Beeping Easter Egg Hunt was specifically offered for students with a visual impairment and featured special eggs that beep to help locate them.  After the hunt, participants were given special goodie bags of treats to enjoy when they returned home.  The project was made possible through equipment and funds provided by the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators (IABTI). St. Lucie County High School Art Show

The annual St. Lucie County High School Art Show opening is Friday, April 20th, from 5 to 8pm.  This year’s show takes place in the Galleria of Pierce Harbor building at 100 S. 2nd St. in Ft. Pierce. An awards ceremony will take place at 7:15 after the closing of “Peoples’ Choice” voting. Students will be judged in 6 categories for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, plus a “Peoples’ Choice” award. Count On Math Night

Students from Lakewood Park Elementary enjoyed a creative twist to their math homework as they used the many items at the local Indrio Crossing Winn Dixie to help them solve grade level math problems. Parents and grandparents got in on the fun and drawings for Winn Dixie gift cards. What a great evening of mathematical fun!

Thankful Shout Out!

Students and staff members from Lakewood Park Elementary participated in an engaging week of Spring Break Camp that was housed at C. A. Moore Elementary. Save the Water Contest Winners Announced

Below are the winners of the 2018 Drop Savers Water Conservation Poster Contest. Students demonstrated amazing talent and challenged the judges to select from a wide array of creative entries.   Each student was presented with a prize for being selected as a local contest winner. PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – On Saturday April 21, test drive a new Buick and help Port St. Lucie High School (PSLHS) located at 1201 SE Jaguar Lane in Port St. Lucie receive up to $10,000. Garber Buick GMC in Ft. MATHLETES COMPETE IN LOCAL OLYMPICS

Students from 12 high schools in St. Lucie, Martin and Indian River counties flexed their mathematical muscles in the annual Math Olympics hosted by the Indian River State College Mathematics Department. Participants competed both individually and as teams from Fort Pierce Westwood, Indian River Charter, Jensen Beach, John Carroll, Lincoln Park Academy, Martin County, St. Edward’s, St. Lucie West Centennial, Sebastian River, South Fork, Treasure Coast and Vero Beach high schools. Moore explore force and motion as well as reflection and refraction at the Saturday With a Scientist program led by Erin Squires and Kyle Cobb. Dr. Kevin G. Perry, Assistant to the Superintendent, was the featured speaker for the 8th Annual Alumni Day of Service (ADOS) for Bethune-Cookman University’s Events Luncheon.  He delivered a speech entitled, “A Call To Service,”  in which alumni were reminded of the University’s motto, “Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve,” and why their service is relevant and important. Holocaust Survivors Recount Heroic Stories

Oak Hammock K8 hosted their annual commemorative event (Uncovering Stories: A Jewish Family Album) in which heroic Holocaust survivors shared their emotional and moving stories of survival with students in an effort to recount history for future generations. When survivor Norm Frajman spoke, his message was clear.  “Never forget what evil and hate can do – don’t be a bystander.”
