On Saturday, September 18th, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted their first car wash of the school year at O’Reilly’s located off US-1. Cadets were placed in different teams such as the wash team, dry team, and sign-holding teams. The cadets raised over $1000 which will offset field trips, military ball, and competition costs. It was a great success and a good way to give back to our community.  

The Teacher of the Year, Lauren Kappler, from West Gate K8, expertly threw out the first pitch at the Back to School with St. Lucie Mets baseball game on Friday, September 10th. This event was sponsored by the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce. She was joined by her family and Terissa Aronson, President/CEO, St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce.   Great job Lauren!

Congratulations to the Class of 2021!   Last week, Superintendent Gent, joined by Board Members, celebrated the class of 2021 at Lawnwood Stadium. Change of Command Ceremony         On Wednesday, April 21st, the Jaguar Battalion conducted its annual Change of Command Ceremony. It is a ceremony where the Cadet Battalion Commander and the Cadet Command Sergeant Major positions are transferred to the upcoming leadership for the following year. The outgoing Battalion commander, Cadet Lieutenant Lawrence Moleon-Matthews relinquished his position to the incoming battalion commander, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Alexis Wilson. Cadet Command Sergeant Major Mery Fuentes relinquished her position to Cadet Command Sergeant Major Devin Callwood.

That’s because school buses are the most regulated vehicles on the road; they’re designed to be safer than passenger vehicles in preventing crashes and injuries. All SLPS buses are equipped with 3 point lap-shoulder seat belts, and Florida law requires that students who are riding on a bus equipped with seat belts must wear the belts. Students can earn “Bus Bucks” as a reward for wearing their seat belts! Buckle Up! They Belong Together!
