Bayshore Elementary celebrates Literacy Week

Bayshore Elementary students dance to raise money for Relay for Life

Bayshore Elementary students attended a Winter Wonderland Dance to raise money to support Relay for Life.  Students had a great time dancing, eating pizza and having their pictures taken. Students raised over $1200 for Relay for Life.  Pictured, from left, are fourth graders Spencer Selph and Riley Corbin, and first grader Jacob Applebaum having a great time on the dance floor.

Guest readers visit Bayshore Elementary

Bayshore Elementary School invited community and school district members to read to students during Celebrate Literacy Week.  Students in Annette Hawkins’ kindergarten classroom were excited to have St. Lucie County School Board vice chairman Debbie Hawley visit their classroom to read.

Bayshore Elementary kindergartners visit a fire station

Bayshore Elementary School’s kindergarten classes visited the fire station to learn about places in the community and the importance of community helpers.  Pictured are Kristian Claudio (left) and Tianna Springston-Coyle (right) from Jennifer Archer’s kindergarten class learning what it is like to ride in a fire truck.  

Bayshore Elementary spelling bee winners announced

Bayshore Elementary School is proud to announce its school spelling bee winners for the 2011 – 2012 school year.  The first place winner was Skylar Collins, left, from Leigh Grippe’s third grade class, second place winner was Brianna Creary, center,  from Jennifer Glidden’s third grade class, and the third place winner was Aisha  Jean Baptiste, right,  from Joanne Smith’s third grade class.

Bayshore Elementary students participate in Odyssey of the Mind

Bayshore Elementary students and staff are excited to be participating in Odyssey of the Mind.  Odyssey of the Mind is an enrichment program that provides participating students with an opportunity to be creative problem solvers.  Pictured is third grade student Kyle Ingleton painting a prop that will be used during the state-wide competition.

Bayshore Elementary students enjoy PBS event

Bayshore Elementary School students participated in a PBS winter raffle.  Students earn jazzy cash by showing their SPOTS!  They were able to purchase raffle tickets to try and win a basketball, camera, art set, ripstik skateboard or a twister game.  Zachary De Aguiar (left) and Camber Adams (right) put their raffle tickets into the bags.

Bayshore Elementary School students participate in readers program

Bayshore Elementary School students in third, fourth and fifth grade are participating in the Sunshine State Young Readers Awards Program.  This is a statewide program that is designed to motivate students to read high interest, contemporary literature.  Pictured is Cassandra Fess’ third grade student Sergio Miranda showing off the sunshine he earned after reading Beastologist.

Bayshore Elementary first graders sing at toy drive

Students from Abby Mollet’s and Garth Gittin’s first grade classes from Bayshore Elementary School were invited to sing at Florida Community Bank where WPSL 1590 and Christmas Kids paired up for a toy drive.  The students sang holiday songs that were broadcasted live on the radio and were led by Bayshore Elementary music teacher Carolyn Cline. Bayshore Elementary students enjoy taking the time to help others.

Bayshore Elementary thanks American Legion Auxiliary

Bayshore Elementary School office clerk Monette Wynn (center) thanks members of the American Legion Auxiliary West Port St. Lucie Unit #355, Sandra MacDonald (left) and Leroy MacDonald for their support throughout this school year.  The Unit has provided school supplies for students and treats for staff members.
