Congratulations to the Class of 2024! Last week, Superintendent Dr. Jon R. Prince, joined by Board Chairman Debbie Hawley, Board Vice Chairman Jack Kelly, Board Member Troy Ingersoll, Board Member Jennifer Richardson, Board Member Dr. Donna Mills, and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Helen Wild celebrated the graduating classes of 2024 at the St. Lucie County Fairgrounds. St. Lucie Public Schools 2024 Graduation Guidelines Each graduate will receive tickets for the ceremony from their school and should arrive in one car with their guests. All guests, including children and babies, require a ticket. Any high-risk individuals or those who are susceptible to the heat should consider staying home and watching the live broadcast of the ceremony. Celebrating the SLPS Schools of Excellence

Congratulations to our Schools of Excellence; Fairlawn Elementary School, Morningside Elementary, Palm Pointe K-8 Educational Research School, and Mosaic Digital Academy! The State Board of Education designates a school as a School of Excellence if the school’s percentage of possible points earned in its school grade calculation is in the 80th percentile or higher for schools comprised of the same grade groupings (elementary, middle, high, and combination) for at least two of the last three school years.

Prince was joined by Big Apple Owner Scott Vanduzer, Representative Dana Trabulsy, and Sean Boyle, CEO of the Children’s Services Council of SLC to announce Fairlawn Elementary as the Big Apple Read to Succeed Program CHAMPIONS. They will receive $10,000 to support student achievement along with a school-wide celebration!

Important Information about the Solar Eclipse

On Monday, April 8, 2024, there will be a solar eclipse viewable locally from approximately 1:45 pm to 4:15 pm. In our area, approximately 50% of the sun will be blocked. The day of the eclipse is a great learning opportunity for students and adults, but it can be dangerous to the eyes if proper care is not taken.  Therefore, we must establish precautions for the safety and protection of students and employees. Any outdoor teacher-directed lessons to view the eclipse must utilize approved safety eyewear for all students and must be principal/district-approved.  Parent permission forms will be sent home for these outdoor lessons.
