The Windmill Point Elementary Odyssey of the Mind team recently participated in the state level competition under the direction of Robin Marmitt. Windmill Point Elementary School and business partner, the Big Apple Pizza on Gatlin Boulevard, sponsored a Kids at Hope Night. Families and the community were delighted as faculty and staff served guests their dinners. Talented paraprofessional Sara Cruz and her husband did free face painting and balloon creations for all chidren. Windmill Point Elementary School invited students from Treasure Coast High School to join the elementary school students. These older “book buddies” had a wonderful time reading with their new friends!
Windmill Point Elementary School was visited by storyteller Donna Washington who joined students recently for two special assemblies. The Vocabulary Parade came to Windmill Point Elementary again this year, and the students were invited to dress up to describe their assigned word. Ashli Sivalls, kindergarten student from Tara Nettles’ class, described her word “observe” perfectly with her magnifying glass!
The Windmill Point Elementary PTO sponsored a Mother/Son Dance recently. Music teacher Jim O’Brien served as the DJ for this event! Shown in the photo are Blake Camacho, fourth grade student, and his mom, Denise Robinson, who had a wonderful time!
Windmill Point celebrated Literacy Week throughout the last week in January. Many special visitors came to the school, including Superintendent Michael Lannon. Mr. Lannon read a story to Tracy Wert’s fifth grade class.
February 6th marked the 100th day of school, and Windmill Point Elementary celebrated with a special kindergarten parade. Carmela Innamorato, kindergarten teacher, is shown in the photo with several students from her class!
