Math and Movement with VPK at the 2025 Family Fun Fair

On Saturday, April 12th, VPK teachers, Daniela Castro (Windmill Point) and Victoria Frazier (Northport K-8), engaged families in a Math and Movement graphing activity at the Family Fun Fair. This year’s theme was We’ll be Movin’ & Groovin’. At St. Lucie Public School’s Early Childhood booth, each child received a graphing game board, foam die, and dry erase marker to continue moving, grooving, and learning at home. Curious George & PNC Bank Read with Lawnwood Elementary’s VPK Class

Cynthia Pilloni, Vice President of Community Relations at PNC Bank, read a Curious George book to students in Ms. Frazier and Mrs. Mccuthchen’s VPK classroom. A special appearance was made by Curious George himself. PNC and the Education Foundation of St. Lucie County donated books to all SLPS children as part of the Jumpstart’s 19th annual Read for the Record event where thousands of classrooms, libraries, and communities come together to celebrate early literacy.

Family Fun Fair

The annual Family Fun Fair took place on Saturday, April 13th at the Fenn Center. SLPS VPK teachers and paraprofessionals from Parkway Elementary (Kimberly Davis and Melissa Tucker) and Mariposa Elementary (Claudia Bonilla and Terri Johnson) engaged children and families in learning about the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards and how to support student learning through creating, playing, and pretending. Every child took home materials and a handout of ideas to continue learning at home. A special appearance was made by Curious George (Mary Huffstetter).
