 Twenty students were invited to attend this game based on the highest amount of sales for the Fall Fundraiser. Southport Middle students participate in art contest for healthy eating

Southport Middle School art teacher Judith Hough teamed up with the school’s cafteria manager and staff for an art contest for My.Plate. Southport Middle students and PTO help defray expenses

Kelly Lunt’s eighth grade homeroom class at Southport Middle School collected the most box tops for the first half of the year and were able to celebrate with a pizza party courtesy of the school’s PTO.  The PTO at Southport Middle School encourages students to make a difference for their school in a positive way.  There are many activities that benefit the students, community and the school as a whole that the PTO promotes, and members always have some kind of “special treat” for the students to show appreciation of their efforts!

Southport Middle sixth graders learn how to study culture

Dielma Eusibeo-Zuvich’s sixth grade students learned how to study culture by identifying the Eight Elements of Culture, Religion, Economy, Government, History, Beliefs /Practices, Art, Social Groups (religion, social classes, education, and sports), and Communication.  Culture is a way of life which people learn from their parents and ancestors.  The students’ project identified the culture of a country of their choice. Southport Middle art department and cafeteria staff conduct contest

Southport Middle School art teacher Judith Hough and her students, along with the cafeteria manager and staff ran an art contest for My.Plate. The students were able to choose from each food group and create a drawing using food as the base for the picture.  Students were awarded School Lunch “Let’s Grow Healthy” pencils for participating.  First place student Shaqwan Brown won a $25.00 gift card to Walmart.  Second place students received a jump rope and My Walking Fitness Guide and Recorder for Kids.

Southport Middle opens Canes cafe

Southport Middle School students were the first to spend Cane Cash to have lunch together at the new PBS hot spot on campus. Principal Lydia Martin and Assistant Principal Nicole Telese stopped by to see students enjoying cool conversation in the relaxing atmosphere, dining in comfort with their friends at the new PBS Canes VIP Luncheon located in the SPMS cafeteria. Southport Middle students select just the right Book Buddy book

Southport Middle students show appreciation to U.S. military

Southport Middle School’s Bobcats recently participated in the Holiday Mail for Heroes program by sending a touch of home to the U.S. military. PTO holiday food baskets prepared at Southport Middle School

Southport’s PTO Vice President, Ruth Altvater and PTO Treasurer, Colleen Korpon pictured here are helping organize and wrap holiday baskets of food.  There were 10 baskets made available to our Southport Middle families for the holidays.  All the food was available through the PTO Food Bank and was courtesy of community donations and students and families of Southport.
