We had a visitor come to our Welding Technology class at Performance Based Preparatory Academy. Joey Graham, a welding instructor at Blue Origin and Welding Inspector, came to visit the welding program to talk to the students about what it is like to be in the welding field. All the students took great interest in all the information that Mr. Joey had to offer. As Mr. Joey went through his presentation, he asked the students why they wanted to be a welder. The question was brought up because of the common phrase that always goes around in the welding community, “Everyone wants to be a welder, until it’s time to do welder stuff.” Mr. Joey was very good at keeping the attention of all the students and piquing everyone’s interest about the different things that you can do as a welder, from being a structural welder to being a craft welder. Each time a student had a question about how to get a job in the welding field, Mr. Joey had great advice about how to get into the welding shops. 
We enjoy seeing all of the students take so much interest in our guest speakers. Thank you again Mr. Joey for coming out to talk with all of our welding students and we hope to have you back to talk with our next group of first year welding students.
