The first graders at Lawnwood Elementary School recently had the wonderful opportunity to attend a live performance of The Nutcracker at Sunrise Theater. This field trip was not only a memorable adventure but also a valuable learning experience for our students. In preparation for the big day, students were immersed in the enchanting story of the Nutcracker in their classrooms. They explored the plot, identified main story elements, and discussed descriptive words and phrases that brought the story to life. Seeing the story performed on stage allowed students to make meaningful connections between what they read and what they observed. They compared the written version to the live action, noticing how actors, costumes, and music enhanced the storytelling. Experiences like this help foster a love of literature and the arts!
