Fort Pierce Central’s NHS Cares: Awareness and Prevention of Suicide

NHS Cobras Care!

September was National Suicide Awareness and Prevention month. The Fort Pierce Central National Honor Society took an active role in this critically important campaign. During a September meeting, NHS members were given blank colored index cards and asked to write positive affirmations and words of encouragement. These cards were placed on courtyard facing windows for students passing by, transitioning from class to class, to take. These cards were meant to be informative, uplifting, and passed on. While words and imagery may not be enough, combined with the gentle reminder that on the back side of every student ID attached to every Cobra lanyard, is a reminder to call 988 or text 741741 for the Suicide Crisis Helpline anytime.
