From River’s Edge to FPC- A Twin Journey

Being a twin means you do most everything together. From similar laughs to clothing and friends, twins walk alongside each other for many of life’s most important moments. The Maxon twins Christian and Christopher are no different. While attending River’s Edge Elementary, the twins met and were mentored by Dr. Kevin Perry while he was the acting principal. The boys were instantly drawn to his energy and insight. As employees of St. Lucie Public Schools, Coach Maxon and his wife Cheri also connected with Dr. Perry at Southern Oaks as he visited classrooms. From there, the family encouragement continued through community encounters. Coach Maxon recalls the most amazing conversations while standing at the deli counter at their neighborhood Publix, where the relationships formed a pivotal bond for the family with Dr. Perry. As a supportive administrator, Dr. Perry came to all the basketball games and was especially proud of the twins and their success. It was fitting to take before and after pictures of the boys from Elementary to High School graduation with their biggest fan and staunchest supporter, even wearing Dr. Perry’s signature bow ties!

The Maxon twins expressed their gratitude to Dr. Perry for his time and guidance over the years as a mentor because of the valuable insight he imparted on how to achieve goals and overcome obstacles. The Maxon family is always grateful for Dr. Perry’s respectful and open dialogue and for instilling in them the confidence to not be afraid to ask questions and share their own perspectives. Because of their relationship with Dr. Perry, the twins expressed how they have developed a tremendous amount of faith in themselves and their abilities because of the ongoing encouragement that Dr. Perry consistently provided.
