Mrs. Thomaselli decided to head to the park where she met up with her 3rd Grade students to develop learning concepts further! When students took the 3rd Grade FSA Practice Test on campus earlier in the month, Mrs. Thomaselli analyzed the practice test results and created fun outdoor review activities to deepen learning on the concepts students struggled with most. Mrs. Schwenger’s 2nd Graders joined in on the fun and learned some new skills and met new friends as well!
Grade 2 and 3 students participated in relay races where they put passages in the correct bucket for 1st person or 3rd person. They worked in small groups to label text structures and found keywords that helped identify those structures. They had a scavenger hunt where they summarized a story, identified the author’s purpose, and made literary connections, inferences, and even predictions.
The SEL treasure hunt was a huge hit, where students partnered up and learned about one another. Not only did students and teachers have fun, but parents and siblings were getting in on the action too! The only question that the kids and families had at the end of the day was, “When can we do this again?”. Virtual school is more than tech and computer screens. It’s real life and it’s learning anytime, anywhere!
