White City Elementary’s 5th-grade students got a special dose of inspiration and athletic energy during this week’s “Wildcat Workout Wednesday,” thanks to a visit from SLPS Graduate and current Florida Atlantic University track athlete Richelle Williams.
Williams participated with students through a series of fun fitness challenges, shared her journey as a college athlete, and emphasized the importance of staying focused in school. “If you have dreams of becoming a college athlete,” she told the students, “it starts with being a student first—working hard, staying disciplined, and believing in yourself.” Students were eager to learn more, asking thoughtful questions about how to get involved in sports. Richelle told them that for her, it started out with volleyball in middle school, with their own Principal, Mr. Davino, coaching at the time.
The highlight of the event came when Williams raced several students, sparking wide-eyed excitement and playful competition. Even Principal Davino and Assistant Principal Gieseler participated in the workouts, but nobody could keep up with Richelle.
PE Coaches, Mr. Smith and Mr. Jones, said that “Richelle’s visit brought real-world motivation to our students,” and “It’s examples like these that help them see what’s possible when they stay committed to their goals.”
White City Elementary thanks Richelle Williams for her support in encouraging the young White City Wildcats to dream big and stay active.
