Treasure Coast High Manufacturing/Engineering Program hosts Virtual Field Trip

Phil Depuy, Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Instructor at Treasure Coast High hosted a virtual Field Trip informing students about the Pre-apprenticeship and local Apprenticeship opportunities.  Dawn Riccardi and Marcelo Dossantos from CareerSource-Research Coast presented to the high school Manufacturing/Engineering students.  Local manufacturer Jim Brann of The Porch Factory and apprentice Bobby also presented to the students! St Lucie West Centennial Culinary Arts Students Cook Chicken Noodle Soup

Chef Chris Gedke, Culinary Arts Instructor at St Lucie West Centennial High and her Culinary Arts students are cooking chicken noodle soup!  It’s warm, nourishing, and delicious.  Chef Gedke and her students are selling cups of soup this week as a fundraiser for their program activities. Level up CTE!    

Skilled Trades, Alive and Well at Port St Lucie High

Step into Bruce Gardner’s Construction Trades classroom at Port St Lucie High School and you will see and hear the action.  Students learn, practice skills, and earn industry certification in Building Construction Trades.  Carpentry, Jobsite Safety, Tools and Equipment, Measurement, Residential Electrical, Aluminum Screening, Painting, Drywall Installation and Repair, Residential Plumbing, Residential HVAC, etc. The program is a Pre-apprenticeship that leads into preferred admission into an Apprenticeship after high school graduation.  

Culinary Arts Teachers Host Virtual Field Trip to the Cake Lady

Chef Chris Gedke, Culinary Arts Instructor at St Lucie West Centennial High hosted a virtual Field Trip to visit the Cake Lady in Fort Pierce!  Chef Staci Dunn is the Cake Lady who has been a Culinary Advisory Board member involved with the high school culinary programs for more than eight years!  Stacie discussed Covid19 changes to her business, answered many student questions, conducted a hands-on tour, and provided a cookies n cream layer-cake demonstration.  Wow, a great virtual field trip.  Students from culinary classrooms across St Lucie participate LIVE and recorded.  Level up CTE!  https://www.thecakeladybakes.com/  #cakelady772       … Read More

Fort Pierce Westwood Veterinary Assisting Advisory Board

Fort Pierce Westwood Academy, the W.E.S.T. Prep Magnet’s Brittany Shoun along with Westwood Administration and District CTE Program Specialists met with local veterinarians and veterinary technicians to plan hands-on labs for the Westwood Vet Assisting students.  The Veterinary Assisting facility is revamping the surgical suite and laboratory areas. Westwood’s Agriscience Virtual Field Trip

Fort Pierce Westwood Academy, W.E.S.T. Prep’s Agriscience program hosted a virtual field trip for Samuel S. Gaines Academy, Forest Grove Middle and Allapattah Flats K8 schools. Students explored the Agriscience career pathway with out leaving their classroom.

Fort Pierce Westwood Academy- Closing the Skills Gap in the Medical Field

Students from Fort Pierce Westwood Academy’s Allied Health and Health Unit Coordinator Program participated in their first clinical training for the year.  These students are pursuing an industry certification in either Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Health Unit Coordinator (CHUC).  This group is led by Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Montgomery and Ms. Danielle Garcia (CHUC).
